"A Storm of Swords" is the third book in the series A Song of Ice and Fire. What I like most about this series is the unexpected twists, the strategic alliances and betrayals as the various families take part in the "game of thrones", and the willingness of Martin to kill off major characters in the story.
Another interesting aspect of this series and this book in particular is the blurry line between honor and dishonor. Some characters are pure evil with dishonorable actions, but others show flashes of good and honor that are a bit surprising at times.I think the book is somewhat realistic in that the common man typically wants to provide for his family and do the right thing while the rich and powerful are somewhat corrupt.
Martin does a great job of balancing multiple story lines at the same time and transitioning between the battle in the North, the battle over the seven kingdoms, and Daenerys rise in the East.It will be exciting to see all of these stories come together in later books!
!! Warning !! There are some sex scenes in the book. They are not graphic, and you can easily skip over them if that is offensive.
